Here’s my Story

Firstly, I’m honest and I love to chat.

If you read this you’ll get a great insight into how my own personal experiences have shaped my views as a coach.

I love to move and exercise is part of my soul, but the way I move has changed over time. I’ve educated myself, read and used my own body to test principles and methods over the years. I’m constantly working on my own imbalances as my body matures, but I’ve learned how to love myself now.

From a young age I was always the sporty outdoors one, being active was just part of my lifestyle. I competed in cross country, spent hours horse riding or simply cycling around the country lanes.

The explorer in me moved to Canada at 18, I worked on a ski resort where I learnt how to snowboard in my free time. Canada ignited my love of mountains and the outdoors even more, but from a teenager wasn’t good at nourishing my body well with food.

Through university I developed unhealthy relationships with food and exercise, but wasn’t aware at the time. My exercise and food had sadly become something I relied on to suppress and control my feelings. My self-worth depended on what I’d eaten that day and if I’d worked out, I was addicted to the number on the scales.

Its makes me sad thinking I was this person, but at 27 I got married and knew I didn’t want to live like this anymore. It took time, but with help and support I started to appreciate my body for what it could achieve and view food as my fuel, my focus had shifted. I started competing in running challenges again, undertook PT sessions to learn about using the gym safely and effectively and more recently fell in love with triathlons.

When I fell pregnant, I continued to exercise until the day before my daughter was born. But when she was born, I lost the sporty spirit within me, I was tired and didn’t have any motivation to exercise, my daughter came first, and this suited my new role, so we walked a lot.

My son arrived 2 years later, and it was a beautiful yet exhausting time, I didn’t prioritise my own wellbeing needs. My body had changed, and through my pregnancy I developed separation of the stomach muscles. This time around I wanted to carve out some time for me, to rebuild my fitness, to strengthen my core (reduce my gap). So I started researching what exercises were safe postnatally and gradually built up my fitness again, I started to come back to life.

I knew I had a deeper calling to help women

So I followed my instinct and qualified as a Personal Trainer in 2015. I subsequently went on to gain qualifications in Strength & Conditioning, Pre & Post Natal and Mat Pilates. I’m also a certified MethodologyX Coach.
